Economic Impact Assessment: Visitor Spending, Leakage, Multipliers, Jobs per Spend, Additionality & Net Local Impact
Estimate what an event, a new plant or a public programme really adds to a region. You will build direct spending from visitor and project data, remove leakage outside the region, apply multipliers from a fictional table, turn spending into jobs, net out deadweight and displacement, discount multi-year effects and test how fragile the headline number is, with every cell checked as you go.

About this course
This course builds a complete economic impact assessment for a fictional festival and regional programmes in a spreadsheet. You turn a visitor survey into visitor-days and direct spending with SUMPRODUCT, remove leakage with local shares by category and follow re-spending rounds to the multiplier they converge to. You apply a fictional Type I and Type II multiplier table, convert output into jobs and household income, and count full-time equivalents. Then you net out deadweight and displacement, rank programmes by cost per net job with RANK.EQ, discount an eight-year effect with NPV and test the result with low, central and high cases, a switching value and a chart.
