About this course
A grant budgeting course that builds and manages one fictional health nonprofit's multi-year grant budget in a spreadsheet, for grant writers, program and finance staff at nonprofits and nonprofit management students. You charge salaries by percent effort with a salary cap and add fringe by employee type, price travel, supplies, equipment and contractual lines and total them with SUMIF, build an indirect cost base that excludes lines the way an MTDC-style rule does and apply the rate, value cash and in-kind match against two cost-share definitions, escalate the budget into years 2 and 3, compare spending with the straight-line pace and project the year end, test a revised budget against a rebudgeting threshold and build a portfolio dashboard of spending against time. The rules are illustrative, so always check your funder's own rules. The first lab is free.
