Personal Carbon Footprint: Home Energy, Travel, Food & Reduction Plans
Convert units and gases to kg CO2e, turn energy bills into emissions, compare petrol, hybrid and electric cars, price flights by distance and cabin class, count food and goods, see the total per person against a target and rank reduction actions by cost per tonne: 8 graded labs on a fictional household.
The first lesson is free — no account needed.
About this course
A personal carbon footprint course that measures one fictional household, the Riveras, in a spreadsheet, for students, teachers, sustainability staff and anyone curious about footprint calculators. You convert everyday quantities into the units emission factors need and combine three gases into kg CO2e, turn twelve months of electricity and gas bills into kWh and emissions, compare five cars for 12,000 km a year and the time an EV needs to pay back its extra build emissions, calculate flights with a haul-dependent factor, a class multiplier and a detour uplift, turn weekly food servings into emissions and see what swapping beef for legumes saves, estimate goods and waste, compare the per-person total with a 2.5 t target, and rank eight reduction actions by cost per tonne avoided. Fictional household and illustrative emission factors, which vary by country, year and source. Educational only. The first lab is free.
