About this course
An agriculture and farm business finance course that runs one mixed farm's numbers in a spreadsheet, for farmers, farm advisers and agriculture students. You build a crop gross margin budget per hectare, compare crops, beef and sheep by gross margin per hectare and per hour of labour, find the break-even yield and break-even price for wheat, read a nitrogen response table to find the economic optimum fertiliser rate, cost a combine harvester per hour and per hectare and find the area where owning beats a contractor, budget a beef finishing ration and its feed cost per kg of gain, plan the seasonal cash flow calendar with its peak overdraft and read the farm's ratios and debt service coverage like a lender. The first lab is free.
