About this course
A promotion and markdown analytics course that measures one fictional grocery retailer's promotions in a spreadsheet, for category managers, revenue and pricing analysts, trade marketing teams and suppliers. You build a clean baseline from the pre-period without stock-out weeks and adjusted for season, measure incremental units, lift % and the units you would have sold anyway, compare promo profit with baseline profit at three discount depths, build the break-even lift table for margin and discount and test a supplier's forecast against it, track cannibalisation of substitutes and the halo on complementary products, measure the post-promo dip and pull-forward, choose a markdown level by sell-through and margin of the whole stock and rank a year's promo calendar by ROI. The first lab is free.
