About this course
Coastal passage planning as spreadsheet work you can check. On a fictional training boat you convert degrees and minutes into decimal latitudes and speeds into knots, build a leg table with leg times and ETAs,. You work out distance and true course between waypoints on a flat chart with COS and ATAN2, add a current as vectors to get course over ground and the course to steer, and total the fuel for every leg with a reserve rule. Finally you size anchor rode and swing room, check under-keel and bridge clearance with tide heights and bring everything together in a passage plan with a GO / NO GO decision and a fuel chart.
