Returnable Packaging & Pallet Pools: Pool Sizing, Cycle Times, Loss Rates, Deposits, Repair & Cleaning Costs and Cost per Trip vs One-Way Packaging

Run reusable crates, pallets and containers as a system. You will size the pool from cycle times and flows, track balances per partner, measure loss and damage rates, set deposits, cost repairs and cleaning, compare cost per trip with one-way packaging and plan the yearly top-up, with every cell checked as you go.

About this course

In this course you run a fictional returnable crate pool step by step in a spreadsheet. You add up loaded crates and empties per partner with SUMIFS, turn loop times into the crates tied up in each loop and size the pool with a buffer. You carry partner balances forward, age open dispatch notes against a holding time and measure loss and scrap rates per trip. You build deposit statements, hire charges and stocktake invoices, work out the full cost per trip from purchase, repair, cleaning, return transport and admin, find the break-even against one-way cartons and plan next year's top-up purchases with a chart.
