About this course
A location analytics course that analyses one bakery chain's network in a spreadsheet, without GIS software, for retail analysts, site selection teams and sales operations. You calculate great-circle distances from latitude and longitude with the haversine formula, build a distance matrix from customer towns to stores with one formula and mixed references, find each town's nearest store with MIN and INDEX/MATCH, size primary, secondary and tertiary catchment rings with COUNTIFS and SUMIFS, turn straight-line miles into drive-time estimates with a circuity factor, balance sales territories by workload, estimate store sales and market share with the Huff gravity model and score candidate sites with weights on a latitude/longitude scatter map. The first lab is free.
