Laying Hen & Egg Farm Economics: Flock Size, Laying Curves, Egg Grading Mix, Feed per Dozen, Flock Replacement & Margin per Bird
Plan a small or medium egg farm by the numbers. You will build laying curves over a flock's life, convert daily eggs into a weight-grade mix with fictional bands, compute feed per egg and per dozen, cost bedding, energy and labour, decide when to replace a flock, and compare direct sales with wholesale on margin per bird, with every cell checked as you go.

About this course
In this course you plan a fictional egg farm with a spreadsheet. You follow a flock from housing with a compounding weekly mortality rate and work out how many pullets to house. You turn a laying curve into eggs per day and eggs per hen housed, grade eggs with fictional weight bands using XLOOKUP and COUNTIFS, and calculate feed per egg, per dozen and feed cost. You annualise the pullet purchase, cost labour, boxes, bedding and energy per dozen, compare farm shop, wholesale and box scheme margins, find the best week to replace the flock and finish with a farm P&L, margin per bird, feed-price sensitivity and a cost chart.
