In Google Sheets: QUERY (explained, not graded)
Sheets has a function that Excel does not: QUERY runs a small SQL-like query on a range. =QUERY(A1:E21, "select B, sum(E) where A = 'Sep' group by B", 1) returns one row per channel with its September revenue, including a header. QUERY is great for quick summaries, but its result is a block that spills over several cells, and Excel cannot open it as a formula. The grid in this course has no spilling functions, so here you build the same report with SUMIFS. In Excel the closest tools are a PivotTable or Power Query.
Pivot tables in Sheets
- Insert > Pivot table, choose the data range and a new sheet.
- Add Channel to Rows, Month to Columns and Revenue to Values (SUM).
- Sheets pivot tables refresh by themselves when the data changes; in Excel you click Refresh.
