About this course
A veterinary practice economics course that runs the numbers of one fictional small-animal practice in a spreadsheet, for practice owners and managers, vets and nurses moving into management and veterinary business students. You flag active and lapsed clients with EDATE and count the active patients, calculate visits per patient and what the gap to a target is worth, find the average transaction charge by service type and for the practice, compare vets and nurses on revenue per FTE and appointments per hour, set pharmacy and food prices from margin and markup, compare a monthly wellness plan with pay-as-you-go care, measure staff cost as a share of revenue and the utilisation of the appointment book, and build a six-month P&L with the break-even number of transactions and a chart. Business math only, not veterinary or clinical advice. Illustrative numbers. The first lab is free.
