Soil Science & Irrigation Calculations for Agronomy
Soil texture classes, bulk density and porosity, available water in the root zone, crop water need with ET0 × Kc, a daily irrigation schedule, fertiliser rates from the N-P-K grade, lime from pH and drip vs sprinkler costs: 8 graded labs on one fictional farm.

About this course
A soil science and irrigation calculations course for agronomy and agriculture students, farm advisers and growers, built on one fictional farm in a spreadsheet. You classify soil texture from sand, silt and clay with an IFS rule set, turn core samples into bulk density, porosity and water content, add up the available water of a layered root zone and the readily available water before stress, turn reference evapotranspiration into crop water need with ETc = ET0 × Kc and the season's gross irrigation volume, run a 14-day soil water balance that flags the days on which depletion passes the readily available water, convert nitrogen targets into kg of fertiliser product and bags from the N-P-K grade, read lime needs from a pH × texture table and compare drip, sprinkler and furrow irrigation by water, energy and capital cost. Illustrative values, not agronomic advice for your field. The first lab is free.
