About this course
A professional services metrics course that runs the numbers of one fictional consulting firm in a spreadsheet, for consulting, accounting, legal and agency managers, practice leads, finance staff and anyone billing by the hour. You turn capacity into available hours and calculate utilisation (chargeability) per consultant, role and firm, value billable hours at standard rates and work out the blended rate, measure realisation and write-offs per engagement and flag those below the review threshold, calculate leverage, revenue per head and profit per partner, compare a project's budget with actuals and forecast the final fees, compare margins on fixed-fee and time-and-materials work, forecast six months of demand from booked work and a weighted pipeline against capacity and the bench, and build next year's rate card from cost for a target margin. The first lab is free.
