About this course
A lease accounting course that applies the lessee rules of IFRS 16 and ASC 842 to one retailer's store and warehouse leases, for accountants, auditors and accounting students. You decide which cash flows belong in the lease payments, measure the lease liability as the present value of payments in arrears and in advance, build the right-of-use asset from the liability, initial direct costs, incentives and restoration costs, run the five-year liability schedule and split it into current and non-current, compare the front-loaded IFRS 16 cost with the straight-line cost of an ASC 842 operating lease, book the entries at commencement and at year-end, remeasure the liability after an extension at a revised rate and apply the short-term and low-value exemptions before building the maturity analysis. An educational summary, not the text of the standards and not accounting advice. The first lab is free.
