About this course

An equipment leasing and finance course that prices the deals of one fictional lessor, Kestrel Ridge, for leasing analysts, credit staff, equipment sales teams and business owners deciding how to pay for machinery. You quote the monthly payment of a 60-month excavator lease from cost, residual value and rate with payments in advance, work out the lessor's implicit yield with RATE after fees and direct costs, test how the yield moves with the resale price, compare buying a tractor with cash, with a loan and with a lease on an after-tax NPV basis, estimate the expected credit loss and margin per deal, summarise a 14-lease portfolio by industry with SUMIFS, calculate an early payoff quote and choose between returning, renewing and buying out at fair market value. Illustrative numbers, not investment, tax or accounting advice. The first lab is free.
