About this course

A laundromat economics course that runs one fictional self-service store, Sudsy Corner Laundry, in a spreadsheet, for laundromat owners and buyers, small business investors, equipment sales staff and business students. You measure the turns per day of every washer and dryer type and count the machines that sit idle, turn cycles and vend prices into revenue per machine and per square foot, build the water, gas and electricity cost of one wash and one dry cycle, compare prices per pound and what card and app payments really cost, price a wash-dry-fold service with labour and a break-even price per pound, decide whether to replace 14 old top-loaders with payback and loan financing, size the Saturday peak against capacity and price the lost starts, and value the store at a multiple of cash flow with a payback chart. Fictional store, illustrative prices and utility rates. Not financial advice. The first lab is free.
