About this course
This course explains reinsurance treaties through clear spreadsheet calculations with a fictional insurer and reinsurer. You split premiums and claims under a quota share and add the ceding commission, size a surplus treaty with retention lines and a cession % per risk, and apply per-risk excess-of-loss layers with MIN and MAX. You stack layers into a tower, add up catastrophe claims per event with SUMIFS, work out reinstatement premiums pro rata to amount and time, price a layer with burning cost, trend, loading, rate on line and payback, and compare programmes on net result and volatility. Illustrative numbers โ not insurance, investment or legal advice.
