About this course
An ETF and index fund course that puts the numbers behind passive investing into a spreadsheet, with placeholder funds and no real fund names. You grow a savings plan for 30 years at a 0.07% and a 1.20% expense ratio and measure the fee drag, compare a fund with its index for tracking difference and tracking error, build a six-stock market-cap weighted index, turn a price index into a total return index with dividends reinvested, compare dollar-cost averaging with a lump sum, rebalance a drifting 60/40 portfolio with a ยฑ5-point band, chart portfolio volatility against the stock weight and compare two funds on the same index by their total cost of ownership, including withholding tax on dividends. All numbers are illustrative. Educational only, not investment advice. The first lab is free.
