About this course
An education analytics course that analyses a whole fictional college, Northbridge College, on synthetic student data in a spreadsheet, for school and college data leads, teachers with data roles, education students and institutional researchers. You calculate attendance rates, flag persistent absence and report it per year group, count grade distributions with one COUNTIFS grid and find the course with the weakest success rate, convert letter grades into a credit-weighted GPA and a Dean's list, track five entry cohorts through retention, progression and completion with a correctly weighted rate, predict final scores from prior attainment with a straight line and compare value added by teaching group, measure gaps between student groups as a difference and a ratio, combine three warning signs into an early-warning risk score, and build a ranked department dashboard. All students are synthetic and identified only by pseudonymised IDs. The first lab is free.
