Airport Economics: Passenger Flows, Gate Capacity & Non-Aeronautical Revenue
Run the numbers of a fictional regional airport: passengers and movements with the design peak hour, landing fees by MTOW and passenger charges, stand occupancy, a security queue model, concession revenue with minimum guarantees, parking, cost per passenger and EBITDA, and traffic scenarios against capacity, with every cell checked as you go.

About this course
An airport economics course that runs the numbers of one fictional regional airport, Kestrel Valley Airport, in a spreadsheet, for aviation management students, airport planners and finance staff, and analysts who cover airports. You turn monthly traffic into passengers per movement, seasonal shares and the design peak hour, price a month of traffic with landing fees by MTOW band and passenger and security charges, calculate turn times and stand occupancy by hour with COUNTIFS, simulate a security queue interval by interval and estimate the lanes the peak needs, take concession income as the higher of the percentage fee and the minimum annual guarantee, measure car park occupancy and revenue per space, build the operating P&L with the EBITDA margin and cost per passenger, and project traffic scenarios against terminal capacity in a chart. Fictional airport and illustrative tariffs. The first lab is free.
