About this course

This advanced course teaches IoT and hardware security on devices you own or are authorized to test. You learn to see a product as a stack of targets — the board, the firmware, the radio, and the companion app and cloud. You extract firmware from a vendor update or a flash chip, unpack it with binwalk, and search the filesystem for hardcoded secrets using an image you build yourself. You explore the UART, JTAG and SPI debug interfaces, the BLE, Zigbee, RF and MQTT radio protocols, and the web, app and cloud layers, then learn to chain findings and prove impact without causing damage. The final lessons cover vendor defenses such as secure boot, signed updates and per-device credentials, and how to write a professional assessment report. Authorized, legal testing only.
