Psychometrics in Excel: Scale Scoring, Reliability & Item Analysis
Score a questionnaire like a psychometrician: reverse-keyed items, missing-item rules, z- and T-scores, Cronbach's alpha by hand, corrected item-total correlations, alpha if item deleted, test-retest reliability, SEM and reliable change, norm tables and percentile ranks – 8 labs on one fictional wellbeing scale with synthetic data, every cell checked instantly. Not a clinical or diagnostic tool.

About this course
A psychometrics course that scores and tests one fictional six-item wellbeing questionnaire on synthetic data in a spreadsheet, for psychology, education and social science students, survey researchers and HR analysts. You reverse-score negatively worded items and spot straight-liners, total the scale with a missing-item rule and prorate a skipped item, convert totals into z-scores and T-scores, calculate Cronbach's alpha by hand from the item variances and the variance of the total and predict alpha for a longer scale, flag weak items with corrected item-total correlations, find the item whose removal raises alpha, turn test-retest reliability into a standard error of measurement and a reliable change test and build a norm table with percentile ranks and normalised T-scores. The scale is fictional and not a validated instrument, and nothing here is a clinical or diagnostic tool. The first lab is free.
