About this course
A machinist shop math course that does the everyday calculations of the machine shop in a spreadsheet, for machining apprentices, CNC operators and programmers, and technical students. You convert fractional dimensions to decimal inches and millimetres and find the nearest 1/64 for drill sizes, turn surface speed in SFM and m/min into spindle RPM capped at the machine limit, calculate feed rate from chip load and flutes, cut time and metal removal rate, set upper and lower limits and grade parts PASS or FAIL with IF and AND, place eight holes on a bolt circle with SIN and COS and check them in a scatter chart, calculate taper per inch, taper per foot, the included angle with ATAN and the tailstock offset, add drill point depth and build sine bar stacks, and quote a 250-piece job from its cycle time. Illustrative speeds and feeds, so follow your tooling data. The first lab is free.
