Woodworking Project Math: Cut Lists from Drawings, Joinery Allowances, Board Yield & Cutting Plans, Wood Movement, Finishing and Project Pricing
Go from a furniture sketch to a cut list and a price. You will derive part sizes from overall dimensions with joinery allowances, cut parts from boards and sheets with simple cutting plans, compute yield and waste, allow for wood movement with fictional coefficients, plan finishing coats and price a commission piece, with every cell checked as you go.

About this course
In this course you plan a fictional furniture commission from the drawing to the quote, one spreadsheet lab at a time. You turn overall sizes into a cut list with tenons and overhangs, add trimming and planing allowances and pick the right yard thickness with MINIFS. You sort parts longest first and fill boards with a running remainder that includes the saw kerf, count panel parts per sheet with INT and measure the sheet yield. Then you price timber by cubic metre and board foot, estimate seasonal wood movement with fictional coefficients, work out finish litres and tins, and quote two designs from hours by stage.
