About this course
A consolidation accounting course that prepares one fictional industrial group's accounts in a spreadsheet, following the logic of IFRS 10, IFRS 3 and IAS 28 with notes where US GAAP differs, for accounting students, auditors and group reporting teams. You work out control and effective ownership through direct and indirect holdings, measure goodwill with the non-controlling interest at fair value and at its proportionate share, turn fair value uplifts into extra depreciation, build the consolidation worksheet from parent plus subsidiary plus adjustments, eliminate unrealised profit on upstream and downstream inventory sales, cancel intercompany balances, loans and dividends, split group profit between the owners and the NCI and finish with the equity method for an associate and a step acquisition. Educational examples, not accounting advice. The first lab is free.
